when I get past my current 'recovery and retraining' mode. :-)

Keep it up! Hope you get there sooner rather than later.

I don't need to carry the iPad, but I do almost always have it with me. It has
whatever book I'm reading on it when I'm sitting somewhere waiting for people
to show up or just taking a break. Or even movies for the same purpose. I can
do some writing, or drawing, or web surfing, or working some photos, etc etc,
with it at need or whim. It's my most useful communications tool, moreso than
the phone.

The rucksack or a larger backpack suit me better than bags attached to the bike
or panniers, I've found. I'm sure that could change if I get into doing longer
rides or touring, but I'll see where I am when I get past my current 'recovery
and retraining' mode. :-)

Why the iPad? Without it you could get all that in a tiny saddlebag, and do
without the rucksack.

It's Earth Day 2017! And my Saturday Morning Walk is going to be a Saturday
Morning Ride.

The Sumo, now sans rack and with blinky lights fore and aft:

I decided to go with backpack only and ditched the rack. And then the gear that
goes into the small backpack and on my body:

Timbuk2 Rapid Pack
Helmet
Overshirt
Wallet
iPhone
Impossible Project I-1 camera
iPad Pro 9.7
Keys
Bicycle lock

Just enough for the 10 mile round trip and breakfast stop this morning. :-)

onwards!
