DNG Converter works on a folder of images but you can convert a single file if
the folder only contains one image.

The problem could be a compatibility issue. I'm away from my PC at present but,
if I recall correctly, you need to select (in the preferences) the correct
compatibility for whatever version of Photoshop or Lightroom, you intend to use
for processing the dng files.
