DNG isn't as universal as Adobe claims. There are quirks. I'm pretty sure that Adobe codes to take all of those into account, but other software won't even try for fear of failure. I can convert the PEFs from the *ist-D and Ds into DNG and some applications will open them but others fail because the camera isn't supported just because I guess.
