It will also work in "Auto" mode. No that does not mean TTL. Think of a 
Vivitar 283 or 285. There is a sensor located ~in the flash.~ You set ~on
the flash~ your desired aperature and film speed, set the same on the camera
and bang away. The sensor ~in the flash~ reads the light being reflected and
tells the flash when to shut off.
