I opted for the latest 55/4. The way I see it is this: Pentax hasn't changed the formula of most of the 67 lenses. But they did change the 55. And they changed it twice. I assume they thought they didn't get it right. So I went for the most recent one. I could be wrong. It might have been a production cost thing when they abandoned the early 3.5, but I also think the coatings have probably improved. By the way, the late model 55/4 is awesome.
