I don’t always make adjustments before scanning. I only do it when necessary to get an image that is good enough to perfect in photoshop. In other words, an image that records all the detail in the meg or transparency, but not necessarily with ideal black point and white point. If the neg shows highlight detail but your scan blows it out, adjustment is necessary.
