I think a long weekend in France is called for at the next PBP.

We can be standing by with cups of tea, bowls of soup and lashings of warm
ginger cake when Team India whizzes through.

Great idea Bob! I did the PBP in 1987 and one of my strongest memories of the
event is the excellent support along the way. It is wonderful to see a familiar
face waiting at the checkpoints.
August 2019. So far I don’t have anything else booked for that period…

The way to do it would be for you, me, Chris and any other over-the-hill,
ageing, has-been cyclists to meet the vigorous, mighty-thighed youngsters at
each checkpoint with a profusion of sustenance, then when they set off we could
pack up and cycle round to the next one ready to meet them when they arrive.
It'd be a lovely surprise for them to see all our smiling faces at each
checkpoint.
