My traveling buddy is not feeling well this evening so I went for a long walk alone through the holiday festival area, watching the shops slowly close down. Cork folks are very friendly and talkative as a rule... talked to a lot of folks, listened to a few buskers. On the way back, a handsome young elf was at the crossing light when I got there, decked out in Santa-style short-shorts, muscle-T, natty black boots and an elf-cap. I said hello, he proceeded to tell me all about his family, his boyfriend, where he was going to school, what pubs he and the boyfriend were headed to, where was I from?, was San Francisco really nice?, where the best clubs and pubs to dance were, and ...! Ach, to be 22 again! It was a lot of fun, took away any feeling of loneliness and solitude on this holiday evening.
