Spell check and auto-correct start with a "small" dictionary. If you type a
word that's not in that dictionary spell check will flag the word and if you have
auto-correct enabled, change it to a word that IS in its dictionary.

I prefer to have spell check ON and auto-correct OFF. That way I can see the
words spell check doesn't find in its dictionary and either add them or let
spell check supply the correct spelling.

That leaves only the problem of finding the correct word in the first place (for some reason, my
fingers keep trying to substitute "work" for "word").

From what you often/usually type, would be my guess.

Almost all contemporary smartphone screens are relatively high resolution,
but older less-expensive computer may motors are not. based on complaints I
see here about how posted photos are too large, I can surmise that a number
of pdml listers are looking at low-res monitors. A good 4K or 5K monitor
will always display a photo far better than the best smartphone.

I'm butting in again to say that I think
I know what Boris means. The smaller
phone images appear a bit brighter as it happens, and their detail cleaner.
I also keep a fair sized
magnifying glass within reach and
freely use. Pulling them up by finger
swiping the lens is frequent.
I do often view them on the computer, but sometimes not.

I only look at photos on my computer monitor which is 17" x 10" .. I have
no connection to the web with my cell phone at all - but did you mean it
when you said

"I notice that the screen of my phone sometimes shows
photographs in a more eye pleasing way..." ?

I'm guessing you meant the opposite... When people turn their phones
around to show me a photo I have to remind them that I can barely see
there is a screen there, let alone a photo :-) ann

Thanks, Jack.

I must admit that spending a bit of quiet time, going through my images
from all the years and processing them is great fun to me. I find Nik
Collection tools very useful - the color film filters and b/w film
filters
provide me with lots of creative freedom in post in a way that is
controllable and repeatable.

Now, that I am seeing that you posted this from your iPhone - it got me
thinking. Absolutely meaning no offense or disrespect - but who of you
looks at the photos (e.g. mine) from their cell phone and who from the
computer? I do both. But I have a phone with relatively large screen
(5.7"), and still I notice that the screen of my phone sometimes shows
photographs in a more eye pleasing way...

The progress is progressing, that's for sure.
