Hello,

I know some of you hate having the original thought
stream of a thread de-railed, so I am giving this
query a new subject line. I have been following the
ZX-5N in Africa discussion, and wanted the groups
opinions concerning which Pentax bodies are the most
durable. Which ones are the real die-hards? What are
your recommendations for use in extreme heat and dust?
Cold? What body (or bodies) would YOU take if you were
shooting for months on end in remote areas of
Madagascar, Antarctica, Borneo or Ecuador?

Before you drag your mice over to your reply buttons,
I want to make a few things clear. I do not wish to
start another flame war like the prime/zoom
catastrophe. This is not about AF vs. MF and which is
better. This is not intended to be a re-hashing of
what bodies have which features and why one or the
other would be best suited for various situations. I
am thoroughly familiar will all the Pentax bodies by
their specifications charts and Bojidars K mount
page, and I have a general knowledge of which bodies
you all favor and the reasons why.

What I would like to know is: through your years of
experience, which bodies have the best accuracy,
mechanical durability, and fewest repair incidents? In
general, which is less fail prone: mechanical shutters
or electro-magnetic? (When I say fail prone I am
talking about a true failure of the mechanism, not
loss of reliability due to battery dependency). Which
bodies do ~you~ grab when you want to be 110% sure
that your camera will function right and you will get
the shot(s)?
