My Leicas, Pentax MX, Pentax Spotmatic F, LX in no particular order and
depending on the subject and situation. Of course there are some points
to consider here. The LX are new, the MX is mint and has been recently
looked over, the Spot F has recently been CLAd and checked, as have the
Leicas.

IOW, what I'm saying is that the best assurance that your camera will
function right is to be sure it's in excellent mechanical and electronic
condition. To be doubly sure, eschew electronic gear as much as
possible as that just adds another layer to things that may go wrong.
Keep your gear clean, well lubricated, and have it checked every now and
then by a reputable and experienced repair person if you can't do it
yourself.

Also, choose the right body for the situation. If you're going to be
working in a dusty or wet environment, be sure your camera is well
sealed against the elements. Going rafting? Maybe the WR90 point and
shoot's the best option. Going into a sandstorm, perhaps the LX is
best.

I've got an ancient Spotmatic that's never failed, even after being
drowned in mud in Panama, taking a tumble down the Kearny Street steps
in San Francisco, and having been drenched in a Wyoming thunderstorm.
The battery leaked at one point, and it took some doing to clean things
up, but the camera has never stopped working or caused a single lost
exposure. It looks awful, though.
