What tends to happen when ecological balance is disturbed is that competition or predation for certain species is reduced and they breed prolifically. For example, reduction in ladybird numbers due to invasion by alien competitors has allowed their aphid prey to increase numbers exponentially. You will usually find that the majority of roadkill on the front of your vehicle is very limited in diversity.
