I watched a local repair guy adjust the metering switch on my first MX.  The contacts are under the base plate.  The problem with mine was that while it turned off locking the shutter did not stop the meter from turning on when any pressure was applied to the shutter button locked or not.  He made a tiny adjustment to the contacts and the problem was solved.

Picked up an old MX cheap today.
Put in fresh batteries.
Meter stays on when locked.
Remind me: Is the battery switch beneath the base plate?

Also, this novel memo older fits an old ME.

Haven't seen one for many years now. Must be "rare"
I should put it on eBay as "minty" 😊
