Just one thing they got totally wrong in the movie: no-one speaks Ch'ti
there. Bergues is in French Flanders and if ever people there spoke
something else than French it's been Flemish or rather a local Flemish
dialect. Unfortunately, that's been lost in centralist France where
regional languages (Flemish, Breton...) have been systematically stamped
out (Défense de cracher et de parler Flamand!) for many years. Only
recently, local initiatives have begun to offer Flemish language courses.
We love the region.
