Interesting photos, Rick. It always amazes me how the frescos stayed in
such good condition. Presumably the rest will never be excavated? I'm
sure the South African Zama Zamas would find a way if they got a chance!
There must be a lot of undiscovered treasure down there.

Herculaneum lay north of Vesuvius; early in the AD 79 eruption the wind blew
the ash cloud south to bury Pompeii. The eruption caused most of the residents
