So sorry to read that..   glad you had her for as long as you did..
It's just not fair that our animals live such shorter lives than we do...

I had to take Baxter to the vet tonight. She was 21 years old and was barely eating. I managed to coax a bit of food into her the last week by puréeing chicken breast & chicken broth in a blender.

But today she wouldn't even eat that.

Then when she jumped out of my lap this evening she couldn't walk, couldn't stand up.

The vet said she had severe kidney failure and could probably live another week with three days of IV fluids and if I'd learn how to give her subcutaneous fluids at home. But even with that massive intervention, she wasn't going to last much longer.

I was afraid she was going to suffer too much so I had her euthanized. It was time. I wasn't ready & I didn't want to, but it was the best thing for Baxter.
