Just a SWAG, but it might have dust build up inside. That's what I'd expect from a Windoze machine with those symptoms. If it was a Windoze machine, I'd suggest opening it up and vacuuming it out.

With an iMac, you're probably going to need to take it to an authorized Apple service provider.
