Ireland is a glorious country to visit.

I highly recommend that you avoid the over-hyped monuments to Norman
English rule, such as St Patricks Cathedral, Powerscourt, and Dublin
Castle, and overcrowded tourist traps like the Guinness plant, Blarney
Castle and the Ring of Kerry.

The Irish experience is best felt in places like Kilmainham Gaol, a moving
remembrance of English oppression with exhibits relating to the Irish fight
for independence and the Great Hunger. Cobh has a memorable emigration
museum, and exhibits on the Titanic, the Lusitania and the famine. The Hill
of Tara and the Rock of Cashel are important to Irish History, as is the
Book of Kells at Trinity College. The passage tombs at Newgrange are more
impressive than Stonehenge, while the Cliff of Moher and the Causeway Coast
are as scenic as anything in Europe. The music and craic in country pubs
are also essential to experiencing the island.
