We had the American Bronze at first & later the Beltsville Small Whites
(which are really just an albinistic form). The latter are the best for
eating - the others get too big. They were easy to sell live to the
locals. Haven't seen turkeys in SA except the imported frozen ones at
Christmas but I suppose there are some. Chicken, about 50/50
local/imported, is the most popular & cheapest meat in SA.
There are Pentax users in SA getting good results with the Bigma but
more use the 150-500 because the Bigma is rather heavy for H/H shooting.
Probably not for a big, tough guy like you mind you!

Larry, some great images there.
Thanks Alan.
You're gettting good at this. Bigma presumably?
Yup. It has its weaknesses (bokeh, focus speed ) but for something I picked up
used for $800 it does a great job, particularly on the K-3. I kind of wish I
could afford a modern teleconverter for it. I guess I just have to try to make
up for my lack of funding by improving my skill.
A large variety of critters as you call them too. Like the turkeys. I use to
breed them years ago in Rhodesia. They become quite tame in semi-captivity and,
boy, can they eat.
Not to mention be eaten.
Did you raise the domestic or the wild variety?
