I suggest a PDML gathering there, we can check out the options on seeking 
permission vs. seeking forgiveness. 
By the way, there are some great turtle-sunning-on-logs shots not far up the 
trail, and 35 miles or so south is Watkins Glen State Park, a great photo venue.
