A photo of what the flowers look like once they're open will help a lot.
Although, by then, you may recognize it as something you planted.
A search for "flowering plant with 7 point star-shaped leaf" doesn't narrow it
down enough. Most of the results are star shaped flowers.
Have you tried taking a leaf and/or a flower bud down to whatever garden supply
shop you get your plants/seeds from and asking them if they know what it is?
That would at least tell you if it's something you DID plant.
