I spent 30+ years in the Army and RTFM is my default starting point. I already knew how to level the floor & the stove.

The floor was reasonably level (for an 85 year old frame house), as was the old stove itself... except that on that old cheap electric stove all of the heating elements sat at a different angle to the top of the stove.

I could get one element "level" but that meant that all of the other elements would not be level, and it was a PITA to do it so the stove itself didn't wobble.

That's why the one element that was "level" wasn't really level; not enough travel in the stove's adjustable feet.
