Thanks Dan. I feel better now. The problem is that one need to get very close
to pick up detail. Hopefully I'll get my chance yet.

Time to relax now after a strenuous day in the garden.

I f0ollowed the wrong link, which led to an excellent image of a

I found the pigeon without much trouble, and it is certainly better than
average. Nice capture in its environment.

Late this afternoon while I was gardening, a large flock of Green Wood
Pigeons visited a Fig tree overhanging my carport. Now, these are very
difficult birds to photograph because they are very skittish & will
explode out of the tree if disturbed. I slowly crept into the house to
get my camera & slowly crept as close as I could get (about 20m). Most
of the birds were in the middle of the tree but I managed to find a
couple exposed in the weak sunshine. I then slowly backed off & put my
camera back in the house before returning to pack away the garden tools.
Then it happened - with much commotion the whole flock shot out of the
tree in all directions. The Afrikanns name for this bird is Papagaaiduif
(Parrot Dove) for obvious reasons. This is the pick of a bunch of
average shots:
