When I lived in NC, a beautiful cat showed up at our door, crying constantly. We gave it some water, then some milk, then some canned tuna. I kept returning for 5 days, and we decided it was time to buy some cat food. one sniff of the cat food, and it disappeared, never to return again.
Later we learned it had played this game with most of our neighbors.
