Sorry but I don't understand that way of thinking.

By those terms, in the middle of winter, I should only use the central heating
up to a certain point and just 'make do' while shivering in the cold.

I use a portable air conditioner, which uses a fan and a compressor requiring
electricity. We live in a modest 2.5 bedroom house built in the 1980s which is
fairly energy efficient. The upstairs gets very hot (even with curtains closed
and signs on the window saying 'fuck off hot weather') and prevents proper
sleeping patterns, leading to inability to cope. I put it on up there for a
couple of hours to cool the room down to match the outside temps so we can at
least sleep better.

My father use to (and still does) say things like

>It's not our normal climate here and right-thinking people should be
>horrified at the idea of using AC in this country.

I point out to him that both Adolf Hitler and Donald J Trump were clearly
right-thinking people. I'm obviously not.

I will now quietly fuck back off to my decadent lifestyle.

Good evening.
