Hi All!
I just had a big "field" test for the K-1, - on a trip to national parks.
I have been using it for a bit here and there, but this was the first one
with many photos taken. Most K-1 owners have had it for a while, - so it
is not new to them, so, my apology for boring you with my rambling. :-)
The first, and the biggest impression (which I already had before), - K-1
eats battery much faster than K-5 and K-7.
After some 430 photos in one day, the battery was almost empty.
Unless I am mixing it up, I seem to remember shooting some 600-800 shots
on one battery with either K-7 or K-5.
The second impression is that after a few months of using this camera, I
still keep pushing by mistake the live-view button on the left side when I
need the "view photos" button on the left side that used to be there on
the previous models.
One more observation: While putting the camera into my photo bag and
taking it out, I keep accidentally rotating the little diopter adjustment
knob. In K-5 and K-7, it was a linear slider, and it was hidden behind the
rubber shade.
Less often, I also accidentally rotate the "2nd" big knob on top - at the
most right position. Occasionally, I also rotate (accidentally) the
"1st" big knob on the right - the one that chooses the parameter being
varied by the 2nd knob.
I don't remember ever having any knobs accidentally rotated on any of my
previous cameras (7, of which 4 were Pentax).
Otherwise, I greatly enjoy the camera.
I haven't done much of "shooting from the hip" with it yet, - but it seems
to be aiming right. (I had problems with that with one of the earlier
Pentax DSLRs.)
Thanks for reading!
Igor
