There's quite a bit of that going on here after the earthquakes.

Prior to that the Clarendon Hotel was demolished and a tower block was built 
behind the old facade.  It looked absolutely terrible.  It was all damaged 
beyond repair by the quakes and is currently an empty site being used as a car 
park.
