Nice. But getting quality output from the raw converter and rendering tools isn't a problem … I can do that with at least 10 different image processing packages I've tried, no problem at all. Even the image management stuff I can handle with other tools pretty easily. The big thing that LR has that few if any others handle well is the notion of templated printing: I can define a printing preset once and apply it to any random collection of image files, of any number, and get absolutely perfect, conformant prints made to a specific format. I use this facility extensively for making exhibition prints, holiday cards, post cards, fine art prints (that I sell or produce on contract), etc etc etc. It's one of the best time savings possible for my photographic needs. I just finished making 45 post cards for a post card swap that I'm participating in. I print the cards on a 3x3 grid on 13x19 paper; each sheet of cards has to be printed three times: backside for the post card graphics, backside for the addresses, and frontside for the images. I've done three of these swaps in the past … To do this year's, I spent most of my time picking which image was going to be the subject of the card, edited the backside data for the current address list and details about the card, and then used my print presets from last year to automate the printing. It cut the time needed to make the cards from three days of tedious printer drudery to a few hours of loading paper, waiting for that sheet to finish, then loading the next, etc. I Haven't anything else which does this as effectively or as easily yet.
