Thanks, Larry, for the suggestion. I have a clamp light and LED bulbs I could put in it. I actually tried going out on the upper deck, to see what I could do. but I can't open the door because it opens outward and there is two feet of snow and ice on the deck and right against the door.
I tried turning on the outdoor light on the deck next to the door last night. Not much light reached the icicles I can see from the nearest window, but I took a few exposures and will see what if anything develops.
