I thought New Castle was Newcastle ..  :-)

I once got a notice in New York Magazine where the contest was to take a common phrase and change just one or two words to make a new expression.

I submitted "Don't carry old clothes to the new castle"

Ann, it would be futile to carrry coal to Newcastle, but New Castle probably 
was importing coal from Newcastle, as (IIRC) mining in Pennsylvania didn’t take 
off until the 19th century.
