I'd probably do it that way myself if I were a *working* photographer who regularly gets shit published in the NY Times and car magazines. 8^)

I carry spare cards, but on a dual card camera Like the K-1, that slot in the battery grip that holds a spare card really ought to be two slots with space to carry two spare cards.

I have my K-1 set to record all images on both cards. I rarely fill a 64 gig
card, but if I do, I just mount a second pair. Having a backup at all times is
reassuring.

On my recent trip, Day 1, I pulled out card 1, tried to download the day’s
images. Nada. Zip. Zero. WTF! Card back into camera, fiddled, eventually saw
that everything was being recorded to card 2. I found that eventually, once
card 2 filled up, new images then started recording onto card 1. But, really?

Thanks for confirming that it is not just me!

I haven't find another way either as the one described by Larry.
However, two card slots is so useful. So often I praised this outside in
the field when I forgot to put my main card in and left it in the card
reader.

That's how I finally managed it. Took both cards & powered it on; shut
it off put the card I want it to record to first & turn it on again (no

Kludgy as hell, but that's not the real problem.
IT'S NOT IN THE MANUAL!

I am not surprised. I have been bitching about the Pentax manuals since
2008. They are not written for the sort of people who actually read
manuals, and don’t mention much of the things that an actual photographer
cares about. They are aimed at people who would be happier just using a
cell phone but want to look important and bought a DSLR instead.

I’ll spare y’all my rant about the idiot-centric user interface.
