And it won't slide down when fixed, as happened so often with twist lock..

I did exactly the opposite. I had a Manfrotto 055 which I could never get the lever locks to work right. If they were adjusted so that when engaged the legs wouldn't collapse under the weight of the camera, they wouldn't allow the legs to loosen enough to be collapsed, and if the levers were adjusted so that the legs could be extended or retracted, the legs would collapse under the weight of the camera.
The thing was pretty much unusable because of the craptastic lever locks.
It could just be that Manfrotto is the General Motors of tripods, but my experience with the 055 was such that when I went looking for a replacement, lever locks were at the top of my avoid this crap list and Manfrotto was not on my radar at all. The twist locks on the Feisol tripods are secure and are easy to adjust. Both my Traveller and my somewhat (well, a lot ) heavier Tournament tripods have never had any issues with leg creep. The only thing I don't like about mine is that if the lower locks are tightened more than the upper ones the entire inner lower leg will twist when trying to loosen the lock rather than allowing the lock to loosen. The new ones have corrected this problem as the leg sections will no longer twist inside the upper sections. I've never had a problem with dirt jamming up any tripod, but my experience in this regard might be unique.
