I showed the image to my wife - she said they had something similar in
Salisbury, Rhodesia, when our kids were small. The outings were known as
"play dates".

Rittenhouse Square, as well as the park near our house and the nearby cemetery,
are maintained through the energies of “friends” organizations that hold
periodic cleanup days, lobby the city government, and raise money. They were a
mess when we moved here 40 years ago.
