I am reading that the government in the UK is warning that Wildfires could sweep across swathes of the country this weekend, with an “unprecedented” risk.that devastating blazes may spread into residential areas, because of bone-dry conditions and powerful wind.
It's much the same all over Western Europe. There are even bigger fires in France again. We had one near Berlin in a forest where the local authorities stock and destroy unexplosed ordnance and illegal fireworks, making the work of the fire brigade even more difficult and dangerous. For the first time in living memory, the source of the river Thames has dried up, shipping on the Rhine is severely hampered and the river Po in Northern Italy has been reduced to a rivulet, leaving the vast rice fields in the area high and dry. But, of course, all this has nothing to do with climate change... Ralf -- Ralf R.
