One of the things going on in my life is that the company I work for is going
to be moving to Riverside (400mi south) in the next month, and I don't yet know
how much time I'll need to spend there. One downside is that I won't be able
to do repairs on my house in Santa Cruz on the weekends. The big upside is that
I'll be able to do something with my weekends other than home repairs, so I
might actually get a chance to play with my cameras.

That sounds reasonable, and probably more likely than they have the K-1 III
almost ready to go, and will only have a couple of months between making the
K-3 iii obsolete as a flagship and having a new flagship available.

To be honest, I never really felt resolution limited on the 6MP K100, or the 12
or 16 MP (or whatever they were) K20, K-x, K-5 ...

There are some really good deals on the Amazon Pentax store:
https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/9740A73D-0D60-462C-A658-BC2295B4E731

For example K-70 for $520

I also expect that there will soon be more K-3 iii available new for under
$1600 new. Mapcamera in Japan has several in the $1100-1200 range.

In short, I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.
