Hi Len.
Fortunately Pentax bodies are all backwards compatible in lens mount
and flash as well, so a 372 will work just fine regarding dedication
and TTL even on a modern AF camera (I know I did use 300 series flash
with 372 adapter on SFXn). It's, after all, almost like putting an
280T flash on your PZ1p. Unfortunately, it's the new pentax digital
flashes that don't work in ttl on older cameras like LX, S-A,...
More to the SCA system, there are several configs:
*300 series (analog, like 45CT3, 35CT,32CT,...) flash
used with 372 adapter: dedication & TTL on any capable body. No
fancy features like 2nd curtain synch or contrast control, also
problems with program flash I think
used with 374/2 adapter (preferably latest version M2):
almost as much dedication as digital flashes - offers program
flash, program flash fill-in (if camera supports), second-curtain
synch and few others. Doesn't do any motorised zooming of flash
head (no 300 series flash had a motor zoom head anyway). Also has
AF assist light (which works even with flash turned of, for
easier af in the dark!)
*3000 series (digital flashes, like 40MZ, 32MZ, 50MZ)
with 372/374 adapters: should be possible, but reverts thus to
most basic TTL/dedic. config
3701/3702 adapters: full dedication and all digital functions
(of course, depending on camera type and sca adapter version ;-(
there are probably incompatibilities)
Sorry, I don't know much on the MZ-M with 54MZ and 3702 problem.
Try asking Metz direct, they have a VERY friendly support staff.
Good light,
