Maybe you didn't use any filtration? And a 645 negative doesn't have to be
enlarged much to get a 5x7 print. Other than that - I don't know.

I printed some B&W today for the first time in nearly 40 years.  My enlarger
is an Omega Chromega B Dichroic and I'm processing in a Jobo Duolab at 24C.
Exposing 8x10 from 645 negatives only takes about 5 seconds at f16.  Seems
awfully quick doesn't it?  I'm using Forte Salon RC to practice with since
it's pretty cheap, but also seems like pretty short exposures with Kodak
Polycontrast at 5x7.  Gosh I've forgotten a lot in the last 40 years!
