The July/ August issue of Photo Techniques doesn't agree.
Apparently, another Ni�pce image, shot in 1825, is the actual
first photograph. It sold at a Sotheby's auction in Paris,
complete with Ni�pce's documentation, to the French government
for $443,220. The French government then donated it to the
French national library.
Sorry, but it appears the information on this website falls into
the "sky is pink, I read it on the web" category.
