If you calibrate your camera's meter i.e. run some tests (on slides) and record what is "average 18% gray" for your camera, you're set. You don't care what the indication is as long as it is consistent. If the meter is 1/2 stop over, that's the 0 point for you. Is not that difficult and you can do it by over or underrate the film you use. Of course you'd think an expensive and advanced camera should offer you the *right* metering...
