I actually own 3 K1000, one of the early version, the other two of the 'middle' version (all made in Japan; all metal, focusing screen on the two 'middle' ones with only a microprism center - same finder of the late version) and a Spotmatic (SP). On a 1992 issue of 'Il fotografo', one of the most popular photographic magazines in Italy, there was an article about the similarity and differences between the SP1000 and the K1000. The article, dedicated to the K1000 had a title that said it all: A thoroughbred thirty year old camera. In fact they stated that there was a very straight descent between the two cameras. I don't know when the early K1000 version was replaced by its successor, but I have never found any K1000 of that period to be unreliable. I've no experience of the K1000s made outside Japan. > Does the K1000/KX use the same shutter as the Spotmatic? If not exactly the same, it is 'almost' the same. The sound is very close (but it may vary slightly from K1000 to K1000 - I assume it is more reliable on the K1000 made in Japan, though...) Ciao, Gianfranco ===== Sign up for SBC Yahoo!
