I have both LX and K2 in my working collection. I have used the LX for about a year, and have just begun really using the K2. I find both to have their advantages. The K2 is compact, well built, and FEELS good in my hand.
On the other hand my LX is bulky. I say this because I have it loaded down with the bulkier options . . . a Grip A, sports finder (which is useful for focusing with glasses on), and motordrive. If you don't need/forsee needing these options in the future, then there is no reason to pick up an LX, and a K2 would suffice. Just be aware that the K2's ASA setting ring and EV compensation can get a bit sticky to use.
