Living in Brooklyn, that would be my vote. An advantage to Brooklyn is that the 
Botanic Gardens/Brooklyn Museum/Prospect Park (same area) is easy to get to by subway, 
and it's possible to park in the area (on the street or Museum parking lot).

Dan - It might also be a shorter drive from Bridgewater (via Holland Tunnel or Staten 
Island) than going up to the GW Bridge.

I have to check the Official, Graven in Stone, family calendar; my house (southern 
Bklyn) might be a good place to stage for folks driving (just take one or two vehicles 
to The Place).
