Yep, I really miss it in the LX...

AS> - The 2 needle shutter speed information in the K2, K2 DMD and KX is better

Except for low light... where leds are better. Since this is my main
shooting style, I like leds more.

Also, the K2 has a more averaging center weighed meter, which is
fooled slightly by vignetting lenses (e.g. my Tamron 70-210/3.5 SP),
while the LX has much better (center weighed) metering area. But in normal shooting,
the K2's meter is still good, a Gallium diode of superb sensitivity
and speed of reading (especially compared to CdS of K1000 and
spotmatics). It exposed lot of slides perfectly.

AS> - For exact manual focusing there is no better viewfinder than that of the
AS> K2 and K2 DMD. Well, with the SC69 screen the LX finder is very good, too,
AS> and much brighter. However, the finders of modern AF cameras are really not
AS> made for manual focusing.

I disagree here. I have both K2DMD and LX (with SC21) and the
LX is SOO MUCH better to focus than K2DMD. Even in daylight.
Especially with longer lenses. But the LX is better to focus than Nikons (FM2n) too.
The finder of K2DMD is
still very good but a full league behind the LX.

Feature wise and technologically wise, the K2DMD and LX are Pentax's
most advaned cameras (until the AF ones). The K2DMD has so many little
technological marvels, especially inside... many patents are
associated with it too.

The K2(DMD) has one other positive: very "positive" shutter release
and almost nonexistent shutter lag, best of many slrs. Due to the
strong mirror/shutter curtains (which make possible the 1/125 synch),
the shutter vibrates quite more than any other Pentax slr of the
vintage. The MLU mode doesn't stop down the lens like it does on KX
and LX, unfortunately, so the aperture stopdown lever adds another
source of vibration. So it's less suitable for long lenses in MLU mode
(even though it has a very big mirror)

Good light,
