> What is your experience in the matter? Flavio, my opinion on the very common discrepancies between advertised and observed "f and F" specifications go something like this:
1. Apertures are frequently slightly less generous (i.e., slightly narrower) than advertised. 2. Wide-angle lenses are frequently not quite as wide as advertised. 3. Telephoto lenses are frequently not quite as long as advertised. 4. Zoom lenses frequently have focal length ranges less generous (i.e., narrower) than advertised (and frequently the "fudging" occurs at both ends of the zoom range).
