Many things could go wrong with an old LX, and some of them could be
difficult to detect. Experience tells me that many 2ndhand retailers usually
tried to fix their used equipment quick and dirty, instead of an overhaul
(not economical to them). So when you noticed something wrong with the
camera, they either tried to fix it the quick way, or simply told you they
could not detect anything wrong at all. For this reason, I usually buy used
cameras or lenses without their shop warranty and ask for an discount. The
risk is, there will be no refund in any case. And then I would let my
trusted service centre to do an overhaul (only cameras, because I usually
service my own lenses).

Alan Chan
