Hi,

FWIW, a list member recently picked up a Soligor 20mm, and sent me an image
he took with it, and I was quite impressed. Very linear, right to the
edges, and pretty sharp to the edges as well. Especially for what he paid
for it.

You don't mention if you're looking for k-mount or m42 (the Pentax lenses
you mention are obviously k, but the Soligor is much more plentiful in m42),
but have you thought about a Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 20mm? Available in
2.8 or 4.0, I've heard that the 4.0 is sharper, but I also saw a contrary
opinion right here a couple of weeks ago - I've not used one, so I don't
know. Probably more than the cheaper ones on your list, but less than the
Pentaxes. Both have pretty good reputations. I would think that k-mount
versions are very rare to non-existent.

Watch it on eBay, though: it seems that many of them being sold are coming
from former East Block countries, and I'm not sure how reliable those
sellers are...

regards,
frank
