Thanks for the help Bill. To confirm and clarify (a phrase learned at my previous job
with a Fortune 100 company), I have found these two lenses on eBay and Adorama. Are
these the "-- an F 70-210/4-5.6 (discontinued around 1991, considered by many to be
the best of the autofocus zooms in this range)" of which you speak?

eBay: PENTAX TAKUMAR-F 70-210mm 4-5.6 AF ZOOM LENS
Adorama: Pentax 70-210 4/5.6 Takumar-f Af Lns

If I am interpreting your reply and the two web sites you listed correctly, these two
lenses look like my best shots for autofocus zooms in this range at the moment.

Thanks for all the help!

BTW, on your question of upgrading to W2K, I'm a Mac user at home and a Unix
administrator at work. Of the Windoze machines I've had to use, I find W2K pretty
workable. I like it much better than W95 or NT. In fact, because I find W2K "good
enough", my next home computer will probably be a PC. Cost is the issue. Of course,
this still doesn't speak to the issue of hardware compatibility.
