Well, I kinda knew that a smaller front element meant changes in the optical
design, but I was talking about the resulting pictures rather than the
lenses themselves.

Could you explain the difference between "close focusing" and "macro
focusing"? Also, from what i've heard only the first version of this lens
had this white button, but I may be mistaken.
