The best camera lenses are from Germany/Europe.
Schneider & Rodenstock & Zeiss & Angeneaux.

The best enlarging lenses are from Germany.
Rodenstock.

Those nice, quiet, compact, durable rangefinders also come from Germany.
Leica.

The most rugged medium format is Swedish, but uses German glass.
'Blad.

The best LF stuff is from over there as well.
Sinar.
Arca-Swiss.
Linhof.

The Japanese are still in 2nd place.
Nikkor, Fujinon, Pentax.
Canon is ok but tends to be driven by innovation even more than by qualitative
concerns. Bronica is just cheap. Konica is an innovator, but nothing for the long
haul. Olympus who?

So, why do we continue fussing with and arguing about this Japanese garbage? Don't
worry about Pentax' next offering. The Japanese manufacturers, each and every one of
them, are more worried about marketing & niche results than quality, except as it
improves volume sales and the bottom line. Unquestioning brand loyalty drives them.

Ya gets what ya pays fer. As they say on the Island, as I've been told, "Should have
gotten the Bosch."

Yes, I like my Pentax. It will do a fine job for me in the future as it has in the
past. But it's just hardware. I'm not married to it.

Smile. It's Tuesday.
