This Pentax-fit Sigma 70-200 EX f/2.8 APO lens is a fast telephoto zoom with highly regarded optics. In the time I have owned this lens - only just over 16 months to be exact - it has been one of my most used bottles. On the LX, or any manual Pentax camera, it is great fun. The manual focus is smooth and precise. On an AF camera, simply push the focus ring forward, it clicks, and disengages manual focus, and the camera's AF takes over. Focus is very fast, I was impressed, even on my son's Z-10. Impressive. So are the results. Wide open, as fast zooms do tend to get used, it's surprisingly good. No debating, it's a fairly hefty piece of kit, and shove the 'perfect' hood (tulip-shaped) on the front - reversible for carrying on-lens - and it looks the part. Filter size is 77mm, acres of glass on the front, and that glass is crystal clear. Both front and rear elements are spotless. Inside, it is spotless. No dust, no marks, nothing. Just pure APO light-admitting glass. The tripod mount is a collar type with a twist-knob brake, easily removed completely (although I always hand-held with it on, as it fit nicely in the palm of my hand). The optics are the same. In fact I've just got another one in a different mount, and I can't afford two of the buggers, much as I would like to. It's that good. Comes complete with hood, front and rear caps, soft carry case, original box, B+H receipt, warranty card. Glass is all mint, lens body is mint, slight signs of use on hood, and where it attaches (bayonet mount). Purchased from B + H in New York with 7 year USA warranty still applicable. Because this lens in effectively a grey import into the UK, the price reflects this. New price in USA is about 700 USD. New prices in UK vary between 570 GBP and 700 GBP!
